Tauranga

We enjoyed Tauranga because of its beautiful harbor, downtown area, and calm atmosphere.

But Mt. Maunganui was awesome!

We crossed the bridge and wound around the shipping area to get there, and it was well worth it!  Jerry’s sister’s son, Dylan’s girlfriend is from there.  We wanted to stay, but the sun was setting and we would be driving in the dark as it was.  Our cruise will stop there, so we will be able to see more of this lovely area.

Before we went to Mt. Maunganui, we saw a lot of people going to a Fresh Fish Market and walking by with a huge newspaper-wrapped order of fish and chips.  We decided to try it.  YUM!  It was delicious and so cheap!  We also tried a squid ring, a batter-dipped sausage, and a batter-dipped pineapple ring.  They were all good, but the pineapple ring was absolutely delicious!  Dusted with cinnamon sugar, it was a real treat!
It doesn't look like much, but it is the best!

The sunset on the way home was gorgeous.  I love that peaceful time of day.

It was the perfect ending to a wonderful day!
